Most common roof repair problems

Based on the 664 repair jobs (of 1,624) where the job record includes a written description. One job can mention more than one problem. Many notes are brief work-order references, so smaller categories are likely undercounted; leaks are reported first because that is how most calls start.

What this means for Columbus homeowners

Most roofs that call us need a repair, not a new roof. Spring storms and thaw are when leaks show up, so an inspection in the quieter winter or late fall months is the easiest time to get on the schedule. If you see water inside, call early: leaks were the single most common reason for a repair visit.

Methodology

  • Source: Roof Revivers' job management system (JobNimbus), exported read-only on October 22, 2026.
  • Sample: 2,210 completed jobs in Ohio (status paid, invoiced or work complete), with jobs opened from May 8, 2024 to October 20, 2026. Lost, cancelled, open and callback jobs were excluded.
  • Repair vs replacement: taken from the job's roof scope fields; where those were blank, from the job type (repair job types count as repairs). 219 jobs that were neither (gutters, siding, inspections, mixed scopes) are shown separately and left out of the repair/replacement percentage.
  • Problem types: keyword matching on the free-text job description, available for 664 of 1,624 repair jobs.
  • Dates: the date the job was opened in our system, not the completion date.
  • Privacy: aggregate counts only. No customer names, addresses or job values are published.
  • Limits: this is one contractor's data, weighted toward property-management work, not a survey of the whole market. Raleigh, NC jobs are tracked separately and are not included.
